The Staff at Tulasi Health Care believes in walking that extra mile in order to excel at catering to the needs of the mentally ill and/or addicted patients undergoing treatment. We believe in surpassing expectations on the following fronts:
Frequent Individual and group counseling sessions
At Tulasi, all inpatient and outpatient treatment programs include frequent one-on-one counseling sessions of patients with counseling psychologists. One-on-one sessions are usually conducted daily by psychologists and psychiatrists.
A family program
As part of the patient’s treatment, family programs are conducted in Tulasi. A family program comprises of the following:
- Addressing co-dependent behavior that enables addiction and blocks recovery.
- Helping families to understand, as well as avoid enabling the behavior.
- Improving the mental state of the entire family.
- Developing an understanding of how the family can support the recovery of their loved one and to help deter relapse.
- Preventing addiction from spreading to other family members or future generations.
Connection-building activities among clients
Recovery is a lifelong journey that is best accomplished with help along the way. Addiction also isolates a person emotionally. Establishing strong emotional connections and bonds pave the way for a healthier life.
Treatment for co-occurring mental and substance use disorders
The advantages of an integrated treatment approach to the individual are clear. Dual diagnosis treatment is associated with better outcomes including:
- Improved quality of life
- Reduced substance use
- Decreased hospitalizations
- Improved psychiatric symptoms
- Fewer legal issues
Individuals often benefit from a stepped-down approach that begins with either inpatient or intensive outpatient care. Depending on their personal needs, the person may then enter extended care or a sober living program.
Many types of therapies are used to treat substance addictions and mental disorders. The best programs are the ones that use evidenced-based treatment modalities. What this means is that the specific form of treatment used has been well-researched for effectiveness.
An excellent rehab program includes a Medical Nutritional Therapy (MNT) plan. Addiction harms the body and the brain and weakens the immune system. Thus a therapeutically designed nutritional plan is an important part of treatment.
You may be surprised to find out that an evidence-based fitness program is also an important part of a rehab program. Various forms of exercise offer different benefits. Aerobic exercise, such as running, actually increases the neuron reserves in the part of the brain that is responsible for learning.
It also releases endorphins. Endorphins are nature’s “feel good” hormone and offer a natural high that is free of the negative risks of drugs.
