Exposure and Response Prevention

ERP is a type of cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) that's particularly effective for treating obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD).

It involves two main components:

Exposure: This part of the therapy involves gradually and systematically exposing a person to the thoughts, situations, or objects that trigger their anxiety or obsessive thoughts.

Response Prevention: This involves helping the individual resist the urge to engage in compulsive behaviors or rituals that they typically use to relieve their anxiety.
