Dr. Naseem Akhtar Qureshi is a distinguished psychiatrist with over 45 years of comprehensive clinical, academic, and administrative experience in India, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE. He earned his M.B.B.S. and M.D. in Psychiatry from India and later completed his Ph.D. at Erasmus University, the Netherlands (2005).
Throughout his illustrious career, Dr. Qureshi has held several senior leadership roles, including Medical Director at Buraidah Mental Health Hospital, Al-Qassim Region, Saudi Arabia, a 150-bed tertiary care facility where he served for more than two decades. He also worked as a Senior Specialist Registrar at Rashid Hospital, Dubai.
A prolific researcher and academic, Dr. Qureshi has authored over 120 peer-reviewed papers in national and international journals, along with more than 150 rapid responses and several e-Letters published in leading platforms such as the British Journal of Psychiatry and BMJ.com. He also serves as a consultant reviewer for multiple Saudi and international journals, including those affiliated with WHO (EMHJ) and Dove Medical Press.
His key areas of expertise include psychiatric research, primary care psychiatry, continuing medical education (CME), liaison psychiatry, quality assurance, and medical teaching in biostatistics, psychology, and communication skills. He was instrumental in pioneering the integration of primary health care with mental health services in the Al-Qassim region, training general practitioners across Saudi Arabia.
Dr. Qureshi has held academic positions such as Honorary Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychiatry at Al-Qassim University and Faculty Lead in Psychiatry at WebMedCentral.
